Dan Eberhardt
James Josephson
Pair sign with universities
Grossmont College Head Coach Doug Weber was proud to announce
that two players from the 2009-10 roster have signed with four-year
universities.
Point guard Dan Eberhardt and forward James Josephson will
continue the tradition of Griffins advancing their academic and
playing careers at the University level.
Eberhardt, a 6’1 guard
signed with Cal
Maritime. He earned All-PCAC Honorable Mention honors
and led Grossmont in points (216), assists (62) and steals (48) this
past season. Dan will earn his AA degree this spring with a 3.1 GPA.
“He has great leadership skills to go along with his tremendous work
ethic," said Weber.
"He played every position we asked him to and was the ultimate
team guy. He’s going to a good program led by an outstanding coach,
Bryan Rooney. Cal Maritime won their league this year and looks to
make a strong run to the National tournament this upcoming season."
Josephson, a 6-9 forward from Patrick Henry, has signed a
National letter of Intent with Hawaii Pacific University.
"This is a great story of working hard, staying the course and
trusting that everything will work out," said Weber.
James was cut from his high school team and redshirted his first
year at Grossmont College. His first season of play he came off the
bench and was one of the teams leading three point shooters and led
the team in blocked shots. He put on good weight this summer and had
a really good summer at both showcase events in Los Angeles.
Things were looking up until he broke his hand in December. He
played only two games after the break and a total of 9 games for the
entire season.
"He has a great upside and has come so far from his freshman year
he has really worked on his body and game and I believe his best
basketball is yet to come. James has the length and ball skills to
play inside and also on the perimeter. This combination of height
and skill is what attracted HPU Head Coach Daren Vordebregge."
Hawaii Pacific finished the season with 19 wins and a third place
finish in the Pacific West conference.
Williams is Athlete of the Week
(2/26) Grossmont basketball player Dan Williams was named
this week's PCAC Men’s Athletes of the Week.

School in Houston, TX, scored 19 points on 9-for-13
shooting, with 11 rebounds and two blocks, in the Griffins’
94-89 win over San Diego City.
(2/19) The Grossmont men's basketball team brought the

(2/17) The Grossmont men mounted a furious rally with two
minutes to play, but fell to visiting Mira Costa 68-73 at
home.
Down 56-63 with two minutes to play the Griffins got a
Branden Pride three pointer, a Casey Healy steal and layup,
and a James Josephson steal and slam dunk to tie the score
63 all.
The Griffins however turned the ball over on their next
two possessions to fall behind 67-63 with a minute to go.
Another Pride steal and layup cut the lead to 65-67, but
the Griffins wouldn't get any closer.
Pride finished with a game best 19 points and 4 assists.
Healey finished with 12 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists.
Forwards Dan Williams and Eric Wilson each added 6 points
and 6 rebounds.
(2/10) Grossmont fell to conference leader Southwestern
College 60-73 at home Wednesday night despite outrebounding
the Jaguars.
Grossmont finished the contest with a 49-29 rebounding
edge over Southwestern. The Griffins had huge contributions
on the glass from Dan Eberhardt (10 rebounds), Eric Wilson
10, Casey Healy 8, Charles Conner 7 & Ty Hosley 7.
Grossmont played the front-running Jaguars close going
into the half down 29-33, but Southwestern used a 9-0
scoring run to start the second half to put the game out of
reach.
Grossmont scoring leaders: Conner 16, Wilson 14, Healy 9.
Grossmont falls in overtime
(1/29) The Griffins scrambled back to close the gap, but
were bested in overtime by visiting Miramar College 70-65.
Despite holding a slim 29-27 advantage heading into the
locker room at halftime, Grossmont trailed for almost the
entire second half.
Trailing 56-59 Elhadji N'Diaye drilled a deep,
desperation 3-pointer with 4 seconds remaining in regulation
to knot the score at 59-all.
The Griffins had trouble with Miramar's inside game all
night as evidenced by the rebound margin, 40-27 in the Jets
favor.
Grossmont next host Cuyamaca as part of a Mens-Womens
doubleheader Wednesday February 3rd at 7:00pm.
(1/6) The Grossmont men picked up their second win of the
season by knocking off visiting Palomar 61-59.
Down 58-59 with under 20 seconds remaining, guard Redd
Narcisse took a reversal pass and canned the game-winning
3-point basket.
The Griffins then held off Palomar on two consecutive
defensive possessions to secure the win.
Forward Dan Williams had perhaps his best performance of
the season hitting 7-of-9 shots and all three free-throw
attempts on his way to a team high-17 points. Williams was
also huge around the basket collecting 8 rebounds and 5
blocked shots.
Guard Dan Eberhardt had a team best 7 assists to go with
9 points. Forward Eric Williams chipped in 8 points and 7
rebounds.
