  • Discussion Topic 5
  • RESEARCH PAPER (BY JULY 22, 6 am Pacific Daylight Time)

Discussion Topic

Discussion Topic (by July 20):

The experiments conducted by Stanley Milgram were highly controversial at the time, and have been debated ever since (as you can see by the number of writers who have referred to them). Some people have argued over their interpretation, while others have debated their significance or soundness as psychology experiments. Finally, some have argued that the experiments were unethical.

Answer one of the two questions below with an argument:

  1. Were Milgram's experiments scientifically sound?
  2. Were Milgram's experiments ethical?

Miscellaneous

The reading assignments for this week are long and numerous--and for some people, rather disturbing. If you are not disturbed, frightened, confused, or made angry by them, perhaps you didn't read them well enough.

By now you should be nearly finished with your research paper. If you aren't, you are either a genius who didn't need this class (or college) to begin with, or you are desperately behind the time line.

Final exam topic will be sent out later this week and will be due not later than 8 am Pacific Daylight Time July 23.
