Prerequisite: Spanish 220 or four years of high school Spanish
Placement Ordinarily, the student
with two years of high school language will enroll in level

may receive college credit
if he/she enters
the language curriculum at a level one semester below the
standard
placement from high school.

Objectives Students will continue developing
proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and

in Spanish. We will review grammar, will
read extensively in Spanish
literature,
and will prepare outside reports.
Students will expand their
knowledge
and understanding of the Hispanic culture.
Language: Spanish is the language
that will be used during the course. The
instructor
will use Spanish when lecturing, asking questions and responding; you
are expected to do the same.
Conversations among students that cannot be carried out in Spanish
should wait for after class.
Participation
When you come to class you are expected to have studied at home the

assigned for the day, and able to practice in class. Class activities and
participation
are an essential component in your learning and you have to be present to
benefit from them, thus attendance is very
important. Students may be droped by
the
instructor for excessive absences.
Assignments:
Your daily syllabus will indicate your assignments for each class. They
will
include written exercises, compositions, reading selections and class
presentations.
Written assingmenst will be collected and recorded on test days.
Compositions will be collected on the due
dates as indicated on your syllabus.
Compositions: You will
have five compositions on assigned topics.
They must be typed,
double spaced, minimum length half a page, maximum one page. Compositions not turned in on the due dates
will have 5 points deducted for each class meeting that they are late.

Evaluation: We
will have four exams, a comprehensive final exam, five compositions, and three
oral presentations.
There will not be any make-ups, unless
accompanied by a doctor’s written excuse.
Grades will be determinede as follows:
