Cathie did the majority of her
undergraduate work at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, then received a B.S. (1970) and M.S.
(1985) from San Diego State University. She has been a full time professor at
Grossmont College for almost 20 years. During her time at Grossmont she has coordinated
the Nanny Program and the Culinary Arts Program as well as her regular teaching
duties in the Child Development and Family Studies area. Cathie is currently the Co-Director of Seniors4Kids, a project that matches seniors with preschoolers in centers around San Diego County. Cathie has written two
books for Delmar Publishers: Safety, Nutrition and Health for Early Education, Second Edition (2003)
and Safety, Nutrition and Health for
Child Care (2002). She also works as a website consultant for several publishers
in the area of Family Studies and Child Development. Cathie is also involved in
ongoing research in online education. She enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, cooking, gardening and traveling.
