CSIS 105 is an introductory course for students with entry level computer skills and for those who want to upgrade their skills for school, career and personal enrichment. Curriculum includes hands-on instruction in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. Skills covered include file management, how to create research papers, professional memos and letters, flyers, spreadsheets, charts, databases, and professional PowerPoint presentations. Computer concepts topics include Internet, email, and e-commerce; multimedia; ethics and computer security; issues in buying a new computer; new and emerging technologies. This course satisfies prerequisite requirements for CSIS 110 (Principles/Information Systems), CSIS 160 (Introduction to Video Gaming) and most other CSIS courses. Students begin game development process by completing game pre-production, creating game proposals, game flow charting, storyboards, game schematics, dialogue, create concept game character art, select game music, and final game design documents. Students will create games and game assets using Flash or Director. Using 3D Max animation software, intro basic 3D game animation and 3D game object creation. Basic intro of 3D game objects imported to Virtools 4.1 game engine: usage and keyboard control of game assets. Create a final pre-production game project and complete a basic 2D game. |

Intermediate Game Development (CSIS-161) is a hands on 3D Video game development class. Students will complete a 3D video game project using a combination of 3D Max modeling software and the game engine Virtools 4.1. Students will create game object assets and create the animation and keyboard control of game characters. Students will write a game “Story” as well as the game “Dialogue” to go along with the story. Students will develop game characters through character description and concept art followed by intro character modeling using 3D Max modeling software. Student Final Projects: 1. 3D video game prototype, and 2. Game story, dialogue, and character development documents. |

| Small Computer Systems (CSIS 114) - For those interested in developing Personal Computer repair skills and for those interested in the A+ certification CSIS 114 would be a good choice for Spring 2010. Classes will be held on Monday and Wednesday evenings, 6:30pm to 8:50pm. Students will be working with functional computers to assemble/disassemble and troubleshoot common problems. CompTIA A+ simulators, test taking techniques, and sample A+ certification questions are included in the class. You can also contribute to an office-wide computer technology project and participate in a field trip. CompTIA A+ certification validates the latest skills needed by computer support professionals. It is a vendor neutral certification recognized by hardware and software vendors, government, corporations and small businesses as a confirmation of your skills as an entry level PC service technician. CSIS 114 will help you develop an essential understanding of personal computer technology and networking fundamentals. CSIS 114 can also help prepare you for the CompTIA A+ certification that can advance your career in computer science and technology.
