EOPS (Extended Opportunities Programs and Services) is a California State funded program established to recruit, enroll and retain students. EOPS is designed to assist students who are identified as economically and educationally disadvantaged. Eligible students are provided with a wide range of support services to foster success at Grossmont College.

BEFORE you can be eligible for EOPS, you need to:

1.    Complete the BOGW (Board of Governor's Fee Waiver) with the Financial Aid Office.

2.    Be enrolled in 12 units minimum at the tine you apply for EOPS or have a DSPS waiver on units (ask EOPS staff for a form).

3.    Have taken the Math/English Assessment placement test in the Assessment Center (Tech Mall, 2nd floor).

4.     Have all other college official transcripts on file in Admissions & Records Office.

5.     Have completed less than 70 degree applicable college credits/units.

Note: Completing the application process does not guarantee entry into the EOPS program.
 


CARE - (Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education) is a California State funded program designed to recruit and assist single parent recipients of CalWORKs. CARE provides support services and/or grant funds to assist single parents with the development of potential ability through academic support and financial assistance.

CARE: The student OR the children must be receiving CASHAID (actual money) and his/her children must be 13 years of age or younger. CARE students cannot be married OR students who are married, but the spouse is not in the house might qualify.  In addition, all CARE students must meet the eligibility requirements for EOPS.


CalWORKs - Grossmont College CalWORKs program provides intensive instruction, counseling and support services such as internship, job search employment preparation opportunities and childcare assistance as well as work experience/work-study opportunities for students currently receiving TANF/CASH AID benefits. CalWORKs assists students in preparing for immediate and successful employment.  In addition, CalWORKs staff serves as a liaison between the college and the San Diego County of Health and Human Services [HHSA] (Department of Social Services).

CALWORKS: The student must be receiving CASHAID for themselves (actual money).


New Horizons is a VTEA grant funded program for full-time students enrolled in vocational majors.  New Horizons provides assistance to single parents, displaced homemakers or single pregnant women. The services provided by the program include textbook support, transportation funds, parking permits, academic, career and personal counseling. Inquire with the CalWORKs technician for application process.
