Application Process
The Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District and Grossmont College do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color,

PREREQUISITES (Also degree requirements)
- High School completion or equivalent
- Biology 144 and 145 - Anatomy & Physiology I and II (or equivalent)
OR Biology 140 (Anatomy), 141 (Physiology) or equivalent
- Total (minimum) units = 8
- All prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of "C" or better within the past seven years.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
The Occupational Therapy Assistant Program at Grossmont College accepts a limited number of students each year as dictated by
staffing, laboratory and instrumentation availability, and the number of clinical sites available for student assignment .
To apply for admission to the Occupational Therapy Assistant
Program, the following steps must be taken:

Complete prerequisite courses Biology 144 and 145 or Biology
140 and 141 with a “C” grade or higher.

Obtain application packet from
Health Professions Office after completion of all
prerequisites. Schedule an appointment with the OTA Program
Coordinator if there are questions regarding the admission
process.

Complete
application to the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program
and file them with the Health Professions Office.
Student selection will be based on: completion of prerequisite
course work and date of application. Students admitted to the
program must submit a satisfactory physical and dental
examination report, record of current immunizations, current CPR
card, drug screening and background check.Applications are accepted year round.
Upon receipt of application materials and verification of prerequisites, students will become eligible candidates on a first-come, first-serve basis.
An individual orientation counseling with the program director or designee is strongly recommended.
It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that all transcripts have been received by the Occupational Therapy Assistant
Program office and that all information on the application is correct and kept up to date.
TO ENROLL IN THE ASSOCIATE DEGREE PROGRAM

To enroll in the Associate Degree Program:

Complete Grossmont College admissions application online.
* Submit one official college transcript for all college
credit earned to the OTA Office and a second set to the
Admissions and Records Office at Grossmont College.
* Submit proof of high school completion or equivalent to
Health Professions Office.

Any prior convictions of a misdemeanor or felony may
influence eligibility for state registration and eligibility
to sit for National Boards as an Occupational Therapy
Assistant. Applicants with prior convictions are urged to
call Occupational Therapy Board of California at

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR INCOMING STUDENTS
DO
NOT DRINK MORE THAN 8 OUNCES OF LIQUIDS WITHIN 8
HOURS
OF YOUR URINE DRUG SCREEN.
The day of
your urine drug test, DO NOT drink more than
8 oz. of any liquid . If you drink an
excessive amount of liquid prior to conducting
your urine drug screen, the results will be
diluted and/or altered and therefore
incomplete. If your drug screen results come
back dilute, you will not be able to be placed
in clinical settings therefore, you will be
ineligible to enter the OTA program.

HOSPITAL/HEALTH CARE AGENCY REQUIREMENT.
Students will be given the information to obtain
these requirements upon admission to the

PROGRAM COST
To earn college credit, enrollment and health fees must be paid to the college. A parking fee will be charged to all
students using the parking facilities. A Student Benefit Card is optional. Students may be required to furnish a
uniform for fieldwork assignments. The cost of the program including textbooks and supplies is approximately
$3,700 - $3,800.00 for the two years.
