Castillo de San Pedro del MorroLocated about 10 kilometers southwest of Santiago de Cuba, El Morro "stands dramatically on a 60m-high promontory on the east side of the harbor entrance [of the bay of Santiago de Cuba]". It was built between 1633 and 1693 and is "considered the best-preserved 17th-century Spanish military complex in the Caribbean, and in 1997, it was added to UNESCO's World Heritage List."
