FacilitiesThe Department
of Music has two major performance halls for its performing arts ensembles: The
Recital Hall, and the East County Performing Arts Center (ECPAC). Both sites
offer great variety in performance environment
The East County Performing Arts Center
(ECPAC)
The
East County Performing Arts Center, formerly owned by the
Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District, is East County's
professional performing concert hall. In addition to hosting the
winter performance season of the
Grossmont Symphony Orchestra (GSO), ECPAC provides a fully
professional subscription series. The "acoustically
sound" hall is one of East County's most valued
"gems."
ECPAC features 1,142 seats distributed in 27 rows, with the
back wall only 100 feet from the stage. Seating is arranged
Continental style, with extra-wide spaces between rows and no center
aisle. Wheelchair spaces with companion seats are available in all
price ranges, and infrared assisted-listening devices are available
for the hearing-impaired. The theater has been called "the most
acoustically perfect hall in San Diego County." A computerized box
office serves patrons six days a week and one hour before each
performance.
The Location
The Performing Arts Center is located approximately 15 miles
east of downtown San Diego. Take I-8 east to the Magnolia / Civic
Center exit. On Magnolia go south four blocks to Julian and turn
left into the Civic Center parking lot. ECPAC is across the plaza in
the Civic Center complex. Parking is always free!
