Courses In The Program:
BUS 220
(INS 21) – Property & Liability Insurance.
This course serves as a foundation for the remaining
three courses. A course in principles of insurance,
contracts, coverages, marketing, and underwriting.
BUS 233 (INS 22) – Personal Insurance. This course
gives students an in-depth look at all common
personal insurance policies, including auto and
homeowner insurance policies.
BUS 234 (INS 23) – Commercial Insurance. Insurance
for businesses is covered in this course with
emphasis on commercial property and casualty
coverage and workers compensation.
BUS 235 (AIS 25) – Delivering Insurance Services.
This course offers the student insight into the
delivery system of products to the consumer. It
teaches the relationship between the customer and
the person providing the service.
Continuing Education Credits:
Students who are licensed property and casualty
agents can receive continuing education credits by
attending the classes. Students
can receive 32 hours of CE credit for INS 21, 22,
23, and A.I.S. 25. There is no charge for these
credit hours.
Designation - A.I.S.
Students are urged to take the national exams for
each of the four courses offered by the college.
These exams are administered by the Insurance
Institute of America, and are not part of the
program offered by the college. The exams are
offered three times a year nationwide. They are
offered at a location off campus in San Diego. The
cost of each exam is approximately $80. Upon successful completion
of the four exams, the student is awarded the
Associate in Insurance Services (A.I.S.)
designation. This is a nationally recognized
designation in the insurance field.
