Staff

Tyler Bierbower
Editor-In-Chief
My name is Tyler Bierbower, I am currently the Editor-in-Chief of The Summit newspaper here at Grossmont College. Early in life I resided on the east coast but moved to Northern California’s Bay Area when I was in elementary school. I lived in a San Francisco suburb, Pleasanton, through junior high school when I moved to Southlake, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. I played ice hockey and golf throughout high school.
After high school I went on to attend Oklahoma State University and play ice hockey for their club team. The move to San Diego was quite spontaneous to say the least.
Three of my buddies from junior high school called me in need of a roommate. A year and a half later, and here I am.
My interests/hobbies consist of sports (mainly golf), writing, music and film.
Over the summer I interned with a weekly publication in the Bay Area. I plan on attending SDSU in the Spring. If you ever have any questions, comments, or suggestions feel free to stop me on campus and talk about them.

Chris “Hambone “ Haworth
Associate Editor
My name is Christopher Haworth, I’m a Navy veteran, and I’m the Associate Editor of The Summit this semester. I grew up in Carson, California and made the move to Spring Valley back in ‘98. Sarita’s Taco Shop has never been the same since. I plan on transferring to SDSU in the fall of ’08. I’m trying to major in Journalism, but keg stands, part-time schedules, and the cost of books are hindering my progress. To subsidize my income, I sell pirated copies of Shakespeare poems in parking lot 5... so if you’re really into pre-colonial rhymes, I’m the man to find.

Matt Carter
Entertainment
My name is Matthew Carter and I have lived in the little village of Lakeside, CA almost my entire life. I have a brother who is a Sci-Fi novelist, and have always loved writing and music since I was very young. I’m a grad student; I enjoy camping, water skiing, dancing, and a good wine. I write for a local music magazine and have worked in the music industry for many years. I would love to travel Europe again one day writing about music as a career.

Alison Dancey
Sports Section Editor
My name is Alison Dancey, I’m 17 years old, and just just starting off in my first semester in college. Moving to San Diego from the small town of Visalia, Ca has been a learning experience all on its own. I enjoy sports, whether I’m playing or just watching, and hope to one day make a career as a sportswriter. As for right now, I love spending time with my friends and I’m looking forward to seeing all San Diego has to offer. starting off in my first semester in college.

Kamri Jackson
Entertainment
I’m a 19 year old, vegetarian, California native, the middle wild child out of five, and the daughter of eccentric parents; a preacher and a computer technician.
After graduating from Bonita Vista High, class of 2006, I enrolled as a full time student at Grossmont College. Planning to transfer to Howard University (D.C), and major in Journalism, with a minor in International relations. My objective is to attain skills in order to bring awareness as a global citizen on the plight that is ongoing in oppressed communities. While a first time summit writer, I’m eager to attribute some thought provoking, funky fresh, ideas for the paper and hopefully by doing so, evoking insight on common student topics and issues. Outside of school I enjoy spending time with friends and family, going to cultural events, and traveling.

Lizi West
Entertainment Section Editor
My name is Lizi West and I am the Entertainment Editor for The Summit this Fall. I grew up in Michigan and have only lived here in San Diego for a little over a year. My ultimate goal is to transfer to film school and major in film editing, but I would also like to obtain my bachelors degree in writing. My favorite things in the world are my friends and family, my weiner dog Milly, the beach, and ice cream with sprinkles.
